Heart of America

Medical Center Hospital

Heart of America Medical Center is a Level V Trauma Center with laboratory and radiology on call, 24 hours a day. The providers and nurses who work in our Emergency Department are trauma certified. HAMC is also designated as an Acute Stroke Ready hospital by the ND Department of Health.

In our 18-bed medical and post-surgical unit, we provide acute inpatient care and observation. Our state-of-the-art intensive care unit is staffed by registered nurses and physicians certified in advanced cardiac life support.

We also provide swing bed services for people with chronic illnesses or who are recovering from recent illness or injury, and who need additional therapy before going home or to another care setting. HAMC also provides chemotherapy, infusions, or other treatments on an outpatient basis.

For Patients

We take pride in providing patients with exceptional care. We are here to make your hospital stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. If you need anything at any time, please don't hesitate to ask.

All of our hospital rooms are private, with private toilets and showers, and are equipped with telephones, flat screen TVs, and WiFi.

For Friends and Family

  • We encourage family involvement in a patients' care. A private family waiting room is located next to the intensive care unit, where family members and friends may gather and even stay overnight if desired.
  • Family and significant others may visit their loved ones at any time. However, in order to promote sufficient rest for the patients, and allow staff to provide care and treatment, we suggest visits be kept brief and between the hours of 1:30 and 4:30 pm and 6:30 and 8:30 pm.
  • Public Wi-Fi access is available upon request for the Acute Care visitors.
  • Please check with your patient's nurse before providing him or her with outside food or beverages.
  • If you have been ill or are experiencing symptoms of becoming ill, please refrain from visiting patients.
  • To keep family and friends updated on a patient or resident with a long-term illness, we encourage you to create a website on CaringBridge.
