GOLDEN HEART SERVICES Our Department is based at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, ND. We provide all of the following services:
Full Time Staff
As you can see it takes many hats to work for Golden Heart Paramedics. Often times rural hospitals in North Dakota cannot handle all aspects of care for a patient. These patients need to be transferred to a hospital with the services able to meet their needs. Golden Heart Services provides a fully staffed ambulance to transfer these patients to those larger hospitals. Be it to Minot, Fargo, Bismarck or else where, Golden Heart Services can transport you where you need to go. Our transfer staff is comprised of our staff paramedics, billing clerks and other EMT-Basics or EMT-Intermediates. Our staff is always willing to take you the extra mile, always with a smile. Casual Staff
History Golden HEART is a alternative approach to expanded and improve the existing emergency medical services in North Central North Dakota based upon a cooperative team approach. The Golden HEART “Team” consists of volunteer ambulance services in seven area communities, local fire/rescue first responder units, the Heart of America Medical Center, and the medical staff of Johnson Clinic. The Golden HEART program employs licensed EMT-Paramedics, EMT-Intermediates and EMT Basics who are based at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, ND. Our Paramedics co-respond to medical and traumatic emergencies with volunteer ambulance services in area communities. Our Paramedics and EMT-I's and EMT-B's also accompany critical patients during ambulance transfers from the Heart of America Medical Center to tertiary medical facilities in larger metropolitan areas. Goals
Team Concept The team leader, the Heart of America Medical Center, is the primary care hospital, located in Rugby, North Dakota. “The Geographical Center of North America”. We have 38 licensed beds and 118 skilled care beds. The hospital provides inpatient and outpatient surgical services, physical therapy, laboratory, radiology, and respiratory therapy. The hospital’s parent organization also operates the Haaland Home, an 80 bed basic care facility and the Haaland Manor for retirement living. The service area includes about 13,000 residents, with nearly 25% age 65 and older. The area economy is heavily agricultural, with a large acreage farmland ranches. The “backbone” of the local EMS system are the volunteer ambulance services located in the communities of Esmond, Leeds, Maddock, Rolette, Rugby and Towner. These area volunteers provide basic life support and medical transportation in a five county region, and assist with 600 emergency requests a year. There is also an affiliation agreement for tertiary and other emergency support with Trinity Health, a level II Trauma Center located in Minot, 65 miles from Rugby. Trinity Health operates an aero medical service that serves the area covered by the Golden Heart program. For Further Information Contact:
