EMS Education - Initial Course

  • EMT-Basic (EMT-B)
    This program will follow the DOT Curriculum for the EMT-Basic. This will consist of 140hrs. of classroom and clinical education. It is the entry level class for persons interested in a career in EMS or for general knowledge. Classes typically run once a week in the evenings from 6:00pm to 10:00pm for about six months. We can also customize a class to fit your needs, a two evening class for three months, etc.

    Classes typically start in the fall of the year. Class prices will depend on how many students, travel distance and time frame. Call for pricing.

  • EMT Intermediate (EMT-I)
    This program will follow the DOT Curriculum for the EMT-Intermediate. This will consist of 64hrs. of classroom instruction and 50hrs of clinical education. The class typically meets one evening a week and some Saturdays for three months. We can custom design this class to meet your needs.

    The intermediate program includes PHTLS (Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support).

    TOPICS:   Patient assessment, Shock & Fluid replacement, Trauma, Airway, EMS Systems, Review Basic Skills

    Classes typically start in the spring of the year. Class prices will depend on how many students, travel distance and time frame. Call for pricing.

  • First Responder (FR)
    This program will follow the DOT Curriculum for the First Responder. This will consist of 40hrs. of classroom and practical instruction. AHA CPR is included with this class.

TOPICS:   EMS Operations, Patient Assessment, Airway Control, Medical Legal Issues, Cardiac  Emergencies, Muscle &  Bone Injuries

This will give the student the basics of what emergency services is all about. It is a great class for firefighters and law enforcement providers.

We will offer these classes on an as needed basis and refresher classes every two years.

  • AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) courses are designed to develop a system of priorities and rationales of treatment in the care of cardiac emergencies according to the standards and guidelines developed by the American Heart Association. The course is useful to all critical care practitioners. Lectures, case studies, as well as hands-on experience will be utilized.

    We will offer two ACLS classes a year at HAMC. The fourth Wednesday and Thursday in February, and the third Wednesday in April. Classes run from 9am – 5pm. The first day is a review of Algorithms, Pharmacology, Airway adjuncts, and Cardiac Arrest situations. The second day is a case by case review of the ACLS scenarios.

    Cost of the program will be $100.00 plus books if you need them

  • AHA Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course will be a systematic review of the principals of assessment and the skills and treatment priorities necessary for the emergency management of the critically ill neonate, infant, and child. This is accomplished through a two day course utilizing lectures as well as hands-on experience.

    We will offer two PALS classes a year at HAMC. They will be incorporated with our two EMSC classes. The fourth Tuesday and Wednesday in March, and the second Tuesday and Wednesday in may. Classes will run from 9am – 5pm .  

    Cost of the program will be $100.00 plus books if you need them

EMS Education - Refresher Course

  • EMT-Basic Refresher
    This program will follow the DOT Curriculum for the EMT-Basic Refresher This will consist of 20hrs. of classroom. You must have a current AHA CPR card and you will need to bring a copy. There will only be 3 Hours of classroom the rest of the class will be practical skills and scenarios.

    We have a refresher class scheduled in Rugby on the first weekend in December of every year.

    Other classes are scheduled on an as needed basis. Call for pricing  

  • EMT-Intermediate refresher
    This program will follow the DOT Curriculum for the EMT-Intermediate refresher. This will consist of 12hrs. of classroom instruction. Each student will also be required to get two successful IV sticks on a fellow student.

    Class topics:   Patient assessment, Shock & Fluid replacement, Trauma

                            Airway , EMS Systems, Review Basic Skills

    There is a refresher scheduled each year on the 2nd weekend of January.

  • First Responder Refresher
    The First Responder Refresher is a 12 hour class and must be completed by December 31st of the recertification year. The FR can also attend an EMT-Basic Refresher.

Community Education 

  • American Heart Association (AHA) CPR  we offer CPR courses through American Heart Association for Friends and family, Heart Saver and Healthcare Provider. Scheduled on an as needed basis.  Call for pricing.

  • Daycare First Aid and CPR 
    As a daycare provider, you must be alert to any medical emergency that occurs and know what to do about it. This class will provide you with the knowledge you need. You will also be taught CPR for pediatrics and infants.  

    This class is offered as needed to the community, and also scheduled twice a year. The first Saturday in May and the First Saturday in October. Both classes will be held from 9am – 4-pm. The first 31/2 hrs will be first aid and the second 31/2 hrs will be CPR.

    Cost for the class will be $20.00 for First Aid and $20.00 for CPR.

    You can attend both or either separately

Other Education 

  • Prehospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS)
    PHTLS is a course developed by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) in cooperation with the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ACSCOT). The course is designed to reduce morbidity and mortality rates of trauma victims, dealing, with stabilization and treatment during the first ONE hour of care.

    We will offer one PHTLS class in Rugby ; it will be on the first weekend in April

    The cost of the class will be $100.00 plus books

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) will take the student through the knowledge and skills needed to perform neonatal rescitation, suggestions for using resuscitation equipment, and simulated situations for practice are covered. It is through such practice that the confidence and skills necessary to perform resuscitation correctly and in a timely manner is achieved.

    We offer one class a year here at HAMC; it will be in the spring of the year

    Cost of the program will be $100.00 plus books.

  • Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC)  Scheduled on an as needed basis.  Call for pricing

  • PEPP
    The goals of the EMSC program are to ensure that state-of –the-art emergency medical care is available for ill or injured children and adolescents, to ensure that pediatric service is well integrated into an emergency medical service system, and to ensure that the entire spectrum of emergency services – including primary prevention of illness and injury, acute care, and rehabilitation is provided to children and adolescents. 

    Cost of the program will be $75.00/Advanced class, $50.00/Basic class

  • GEMS
    The proportion of the aged in society today is greater than ever before, and growing faster than any other segment of our population.  Current indications are that approximately 34% of calls for emergency medical services, or 3.4 million emergency responses involve patients over the age of 60.  GEMS represents the most credible and complete source of pre-hospital medical information for older adults.  The GEMS course is innovative, comprehensive and highly visual with:  case-based lectures, live action video, hands-on skill stations and smal
    l group scenarios.
