COVID-19 Precautions In Place at Heart of America Medical Center
Rugby ND - The Heart of America Medical Center has placed a no visitor’s policy in place effective March 13, 2020. This step follows recommendations provided by the North Dakota Department of Health and Center for Disease Control.
This policy has been put in place to protect our employees, residents, patients and members of our community from the spread of COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
“We have employees who are vulnerable and we have residents’ who are frail, HAMC will not compromise their health. We have researched a lot of data, we have checked with other facilities and we believe we are on the right course of action,” stated Jerry Jurena, Interim CEO.
Screening stations will be set up at each of the restricted entrance points. At this time patients are only allowed access to the facility through the Emergency Room entrance and Johnson Clinic entrance. The Rehab and Wellness Center is only available for patients receiving therapy sessions.
This policy has also been put in place for visitors to Haaland Estates and Haaland Manor.
Additionally, the Business Office has requested that individuals utilize the online payment options through the HAMC website, the MyChart Patient Portal or to mail in payments.
A self-screening questionnaire provided by the North Dakota Department of Health is available on the HAMC webpage under Patients and Visitors. If you are experiencing symptoms which include fever, signs of respiratory illness – such as cough or shortness of breath, have had close contact with persons with confirmed COVID -19 in the past 14 days or have traveled outside of the country in the past 21 days please call 701.776.5261 prior to seeking medical care.  
At this time patients may want to consider rescheduling elective appointments for a later date.
