PSA - Heart of America Medical COVID Policy Updates

Rugby, ND –

As we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic Heart of America Medical Center continues to make necessary changes to policies to keep our patients, residents and employees safe.  The following information is being provided to inform the public of changes currently in place.

Limited access:

When arriving for any of your appointments (clinic, lab, radiology, therapies, etc.) please limit entrance to the facility to only the person seeking care. Minor children and those requiring handicap assistance are allowed to have an individual assist them throughout the facility.

Visitation to patients in acute care:

  • In person visitation will be limited to one person per day, unless it is for compassionate care purposes. Please note, this policy may change daily. To see if patient visitation is available, please call 701.776.5261 and ask for the acute nurses station.
  • Family and friends are free to call the patient’s room if the patient is taking calls.
  • To receive updates on a patient’s status the spouse, power of attorney, or designated family member should call the acute nurses station.

If you do not have a designated family member to relay information consider determining who that individual could be. Please note that when calling there may be a wait time before a call is returned with requested information and we ask that calls are limited to allow our staff to care for our patients. To call your family member directly please consider using the direct line to their room, 701.776.5455, with the extension of 2+Room Number.

After hours entrance:

The Emergency Room entrance door will open from the hours of 6:00 am to 7:00 pm. Those entering after 7:00 pm will be required to use the intercom system to be permitted into the facility.

Anyone entering the facility is asked to wear a face mask or covering. Exception so this are children under the age of 2, anyone who has trouble breathing and anyone who is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove a mask or covering without assistance. A temperature scan and screening will be completed at a kiosk or by an employee. Our cafeteria and the Rehab and Wellness Center continue to be closed to the general public, with the exception of scheduled therapy appointments.

We thank you for your patience and understanding.
