Christenson Wins Prestigious Al Doerr Service Award for 2020
Erik Christenson, CEO at Heart of America Medical Center was presented with the prestigious Al Doerr Service Award from the North Dakota Pharmacists Association for outstanding service to his community and profession.
The Al Doerr Service Award was named after pharmacist Al Doerr who served many years as the Executive Secretary of the North Dakota Board of Pharmacy as well as the North Dakota Pharmaceutical Association.  He received many prestigious national awards in recognition of his outstanding service to his community and the profession of pharmacy.  To honor his legacy, the Al Doerr Service Award was created to recognize North Dakota pharmacists for their outstanding records of community and professional leadership and is considered one of the very highest honors in the state.
The Awards Committee for the North Dakota Pharmacist Association reviewed nominees in 2020 in preparation for the annual state Pharmacists Convention and selected Erik Christenson, current CEO of Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, ND for his exceptional record of service to his community.
Due to Covid-19, the state convention was cancelled for 2020 and the award was instead held virtually via Zoom the evening of November 19, 2020, with over 40 friends and members of the Association in attendance.
"The North Dakota Pharmacists Association is pleased to announce Dr. Christenson as the winner of this award," said Michael Schwab, Executive Vice President of the North Dakota Pharmacists Association.  "Erik has been a great leader during his career as a pharmacist and is committed to serving his community as Heart of America's CEO."
